Cancellation Policy

We’re committed to delivering unforgettable, history-rich detecting experiences across the English countryside. To keep things clear and fair for everyone, please review the following terms regarding cancellations and refunds.
Deposits
All deposits are non-refundable. Your deposit secures your place and allows us to confirm key arrangements such as hotel reservations, detecting permissions, and equipment.
Balance Payments
The remaining balance is due in full 8 weeks before your scheduled vacation. If you need to cancel:
More than 6 weeks before your trip: You’ll receive a 50% refund of the balance paid (excluding the deposit).
6 weeks or less before your trip: No refunds can be issued, as accommodations, access permissions, and other services will have been fully confirmed and paid.
If We Must Cancel (Operator Cancellation)
In the rare event that we need to cancel your vacation—for reasons such as:
Insufficient guest numbers (we require a minimum number of participants),
Illness or unavailability of the lead guide,
Extreme weather events, natural disasters, or conflict in the region,
—we will offer the following:
A partial refund, taking into account unrecoverable costs such as prepaid accommodation or fixed overheads, or
A credit toward a future vacation, giving you the opportunity to rebook when convenient.
We always aim to minimise financial impact on our guests while protecting the long-term viability of the business.
Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays, changes, or cancellations due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, severe weather, civil unrest, strikes, pandemics, or governmental restrictions. In such cases, we will do our best to reschedule or offer partial refunds/credits where possible, but cannot guarantee full reimbursement.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellations, delays, health issues, and lost baggage. This protects both your investment and peace of mind.
