Equipment Hire Policy

We’re proud to offer high-quality equipment for guests who prefer to travel light or try different detecting gear. Please read the following policy carefully to understand your responsibilities when hiring and using Legends Unearthed equipment.
1. What Equipment is Available?
Guests may request to borrow the following (subject to availability):
Metal detector
Headphones
Digging tools (shovel and hand trowel)
Finds pouch and coin pod
Pinpointer
All hired equipment will be cleaned, tested, and ready for use upon arrival.
2. Included vs Optional
Some equipment is included in the price of your vacation (e.g. digging tools and pouch). Metal detectors and pinpointers may be:
Included on certain trips (check your booking details), or
Available to rent for an additional fee – prices will be listed at time of booking
Please confirm your hire needs in advance to ensure availability.
3. Condition and Use
Guests are expected to:
Use all equipment responsibly and follow instructions provided
Avoid unnecessary wear, damage, or modification
Return all items in the condition they were received
Any defects or issues must be reported as soon as they are noticed.
4. Damage, Loss, or Theft
While normal wear and tear is expected, guests may be charged for:
Damage due to negligence or misuse
Lost or stolen items while in your possession
Replacements for items not returned
We’ll always aim to be fair and transparent about any charges. You’re welcome to take out travel insurance that covers equipment rental.
5. Bringing Your Own Detector
Guests are welcome to bring their own detector and tools. Please ensure:
Your machine is suitable for UK conditions (multi-frequency or low-frequency preferred)
You bring a UK-compatible charger or adapter
Your digging tools comply with countryside use (no large shovels or damaging tools)

6. Support and Troubleshooting
Our guide is available to help with:
Setup and tuning of machines
Basic troubleshooting in the field
Suggestions for best settings and techniques in specific conditions
